Find yourself in the Library

The Library wants to work collaboratively with students to diversify our collections to make sure they reflect the wide range of identities and experiences of our University community. We are running a short campaign in April and May and would like students to tell us what books would make our Library collection more representative and diverse.

Find yourself in the Library

22 April- 31 May 2024

The Library has a strategic commitment that Equality, Diversity and Inclusion will underpin all service delivery, working with stakeholders to identify ways to ensure a diverse range of content is made available to support teaching, learning and research, and that an environment is provided where all Library users are included and represented.

If you would like to see more books by authors and subjects that represent you, whether that’s associated with (but not limited to) race, ethnicity, nationality, sexuality, gender, socioeconomic class, disability or neurodiversity, tell us what those books are.

Tell us what you would like us to buy

Use the online form or the postcards available at university libraries to let us know what you would like us to add to the Library’s collections.

  • The titles can be any subject and can be fiction or non-fiction; we want our collections to represent a broad range of perspectives and voices.
  • We will try to provide an e-book, but if no e-book is available, we will buy a print copy.
  • Check the box on the form if you want us to notify you when your book or e-book is available.
  • You can submit more than one request.  If you submit multiple requests, we may not be able to buy everything you ask for. If this happens , we’ll prioritise your request by date received.

Send your request using the online form

Remember RaB (Request a Book)

Remember we also have the RaB (Request a Book) service where you can ask the Library to add books to the collection to support your studies or research throughout the year.
